About · Owner-operated since 1996
A 30-year shop, run by one person, on purpose.
David Meyers founded Clear View Surface Solutions in 1996 to do the work himself. After 30 years he is still the one showing up for the in-home estimate, doing the diamond grinding, applying the coating, and signing the warranty document. That's not a marketing line. It's the entire reason the shop has stayed in business for three decades.
The story
From an Air Force background to a 30-year surface shop.
David Meyers brought an Air Force background and a habit of doing the job right the first time when he founded Clear View Surface Solutions in 1996. The original idea was simple: most of the contractors a homeowner could hire either skipped the prep, subbed the work out, or both. There was room for a shop that did things differently.
Three decades later, the model has not changed. David is still the one who visits the property, assesses the slab, writes the quote, and installs the coating. There is no sales team, no quote-bot, no subcontractor pool. The same person who answers the phone is the person who shows up to grind your concrete.
The shop has held a BBB A+ accreditation since October 2005. Across Google, BBB, Angi, Yelp, and Nextdoor, customer reviews accumulate at a pace that only sustained, careful work produces. A working list of repeat customers spans Chaska, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, and the broader SW Twin Cities metro. Some of those families have hired Clear View three or four times across the years.
The work covers two pillars: concrete coatings (garage, basement, patio, driveway, pool deck) using polyurea and polyaspartic systems built to outlast Minnesota freeze-thaw, and surface restoration (granite, marble, glass) that brings expensive surfaces back from the brink without replacement. Both pillars are run on the same principles: in-home assessment, fixed written quote, owner-installed, locally backed warranty.
What makes Clear View different
Four working principles, all 30 years old.
- 01
The owner does the work.
Not a salesperson, not a subcontracted crew. David personally installs every job. If you have a question during the install, you ask the person doing the install. The accountability lives in one set of hands, which is also why nothing gets blamed on a subcontractor when something goes wrong.
- 02
Written quote up front, no surprises.
Every project starts with a free in-home assessment and a fixed written quote on the spot. The number we give you at the assessment is the number you pay at the end. No change orders, no scope creep, no day-three "we found this and it's another $1,200." If we find something during the install that affects the price, we stop and have the conversation before continuing.
- 03
Eco-friendly products as standard.
The coatings and restoration products we use are chosen for performance first, eco-friendliness second. The two are usually aligned. The products that hold up best in Minnesota also tend to off-gas less and carry less hazardous chemistry. That is safer for you, for your family, and for the installer working in your home all day.
- 04
Locally backed warranty, in writing.
Every install includes a written warranty document. Specific terms vary by service and tier; David walks through the warranty at the in-home estimate so you know exactly what's covered before any work begins. The warranty is locally backed, which means honoring it doesn't depend on a national franchise or a manufacturer ten states away.
Air Force values, still the operating rules
The three principles that came home with David.
The U.S. Air Force core values shape how Clear View runs in 2026 the same way they shaped how David ran a flight line decades ago. Read them as the operating standard on every project, not a poster on the wall.
- I.
Integrity First
If the slab does not need the premium tier, we say so. If the granite can be restored instead of replaced, we say so. If a coating quote we wrote two weeks ago turns out wrong because of something we found on the floor today, we eat the difference. The number on the quote is the number you pay.
- II.
Service Before Self
The owner-operated model exists because it is what serves the customer best, not what is easiest to scale. David takes on the projects he can install personally in a year. The trade-off is finite scheduling; the benefit is that every project gets the same attention, regardless of size or sale price.
- III.
Excellence in All We Do
Diamond-ground prep on every garage. Moisture testing on every basement. Progressive diamond polish on every granite and marble restoration. Hydrophobic sealer on every shower glass. The shortcuts other installers take are not shortcuts we recognize. The work either meets the standard or it is not done yet.
Where we work
Based in Chaska. Working across the SW Twin Cities metro.
Core coverage runs across Carver and Hennepin County and into the south metro: Chaska, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Edina, Minnetonka, Shakopee, Prior Lake, Waconia, Victoria, Plymouth, Excelsior, and Minnetrista. Broader Twin Cities projects considered case by case. The 30-year customer list reaches further than the day-to-day schedule, so if you're outside the core area and want a quote, call. Full coverage detail at our service area page, with named neighborhoods and per-city context for each one.
