How long does a floor coating install take?
A coating install runs as a sequence of passes, and what stretches it is what the grinding uncovers rather than the size of the room.
The short version

- Each pass has to be set enough to carry the next one, and the product and the room decide that wait.

What happens on each pass
The room comes out empty first, then the concrete gets opened up. Diamond grinding takes the top off the slab so there is a profile for the coating to key into, and a vacuum pulls the dust away while that happens. Cracks get filled and spalled edges get rebuilt on the same pass.
Then the passes. A base coat goes down over the prepped slab. If the floor is getting flake, the flake gets broadcast into that base while it is still open, and what did not stick comes back off once the base has set. A topcoat goes over the whole thing last.
What stretches an install
Prep is the part that moves, and nobody knows how far until the grinder is on the floor. An old coating, a paint, a sealer or a mastic left from tile has to come off first, and taking a coating off is slower than grinding clean concrete.

Conditions do the rest. How fast a pass sets is decided by the product and by the temperature and the humidity in the room that week, and a cold slab slows everything behind it. The same floor is not the same job in July and in January.
What the size of the room has to do with it
Less than people expect. A shop floor and a two-car garage run the same sequence in the same order. Footage adds material and it adds rolling time, but it does not add passes. It is not the thing that turns a straightforward floor into a long one.
What does that is what is on the floor and what is under it. Two garages the same size, one bare and sound and one with a failed coating on it and cracks through the middle, are not the same job. That is why the length comes after somebody has stood on the slab.
