Patio Coating in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.

St. Bonifacius is a small city at the western end of the Lake Minnetonka area, tucked between Minnetrista and the Carver County line. It is compact, largely residential and built around a village core rather than a highway strip. Patio coating for St. Bonifacius homes. UV-stable topcoats so the color holds, flexible chemistry so freeze-thaw movement doesn't crack the film, full diamond-ground prep on every job. A small older core of early and mid-1900s homes on modest lots with detached garages added later, ringed by 1970s-through-2000s single-family construction with 2- and 3-car attached garages and full basements. Lot sizes grow toward the city edge where the housing meets Minnetrista's larger parcels. Little multi-family and no estate housing, which makes project sizes consistent and modest.

Patio Coating in St. Bonifacius

What an install looks like in St. Bonifacius.

St. Bonifacius is close to the shop and easy to reach on Hwy 7, which makes it one of the more practical small cities to schedule. The housing is consistent enough that the work is predictable: 1970s-through-2000s attached garages on slabs old enough to have earned a coating and sound enough not to need much repair, plus a smaller number of older detached garages in the village core that need the concrete assessed first. Lots toward Lake Zumbra and the wetland edges get a moisture reading before any lower-level work is quoted.

Patio Coating specifically in St. Bonifacius

Patios in St. Bonifacius sit on ordinary suburban lots with partial tree cover, so they weather more evenly than a fully shaded lake lot and more slowly than an open rural one. Apex flexible-tier urethane for the seasonal slab movement, UV-stable topcoat so the color holds. Patios schedule March through November.

Why we don't install epoxy outdoors in St. Bonifacius

Why most outdoor patio coatings fail in Minnesota.

Two failure modes dominate: yellowing (epoxy under UV) and cracking (rigid film over a slab that moves with the seasons). Both are coating chemistry problems, not installation problems. Polyaspartic solves the yellowing. Flexible urethane solves the cracking. We don't install rigid epoxy on outdoor concrete, period.

Outdoor epoxy Common but wrong for Minnesota
  • Yellows within the first summer
  • Rigid film cracks with freeze-thaw
  • Lifts at edges where water sits
  • Re-coat needed in 3 to 5 years
Polyaspartic + flexible urethane What we install outdoors
  • UV stable: no yellowing
  • Flexible chemistry rides out slab movement
  • Diamond-ground prep for full bond
  • 10+ year lifespan realistic

If a patio quote you got somewhere else is for epoxy, ask what UV warranty comes with it. The answer tells you whether the installer is selling chemistry that fits or a system they buy by the pail.

The 6-step install

How we install your floor in St. Bonifacius.

Outdoor concrete is unforgiving of cut corners. Same prep, same chemistry, same checklist every install.

  1. 1

    In-home assessment + written quote

Visit the patio, measure, check existing condition (cracks, prior coatings, stains, edge spalling), and write a fixed quote on the tier that fits.
  2. 2

    Diamond-ground prep

Full diamond grinding to open the concrete profile. On outdoor slabs this is especially important; weathered surfaces look smooth but the coating won't bond without proper mechanical prep.
  3. 3

    Crack and joint repair

Hairline cracks filled and tooled flat. Expansion joints prepped to handle the seasonal slab movement underneath the coating.
  4. 4

    Basecoat application

Polyurea or flexible urethane basecoat depending on tier. Rolled and back-rolled at full thickness for even coverage.
  5. 5

    Decorative element + UV topcoat

On Ultimate tier: decorative flake broadcast, scraped flat after cure. Then polyaspartic UV-stable topcoat seals the system. This is what makes the difference outdoors.
  6. 6

    Walk-through + warranty packet

Final walk-through, written warranty, care guide for the first month. Walk on the patio at 24 hours.

St. Bonifacius questions

Common questions for St. Bonifacius homeowners.

How far is St. Bonifacius from your shop?
Twelve miles, eighteen to twenty-four minutes straight out Hwy 7. That is one of the shorter drives in the service area, shorter than Edina or Bloomington, and inside the standard area with no travel adjustment in the quote.
Our home is from 1988. Is the garage slab ready?
Very likely, and that vintage is the sweet spot. A slab in the thirty-to-forty-year range usually has hot-tire pickup from an old coating, some dusting and light pitting near the door, over concrete that is structurally fine. Diamond grinding takes the wear off, joints and pits get repaired, and the polyurea system goes down on sound concrete.
We back onto the wetland near Lake Zumbra. Does that matter for the basement?
It matters for which system, which is why the moisture reading comes before the quote. Lots on the wetland edge sit closer to groundwater and their slabs push more vapor; a film coating over a slab like that lifts off eventually. High readings get a penetrating sealer that seals while letting the slab breathe. Higher ground through the middle of town usually tests normal.
Small town, small job. Are you interested?
Yes. Clear View is owner-operated and takes a finite number of projects a year rather than chasing volume, so a single garage in St. Bonifacius is a normal booking. The short drive helps: twelve miles means a project here can fill a gap in the calendar that a longer trip could not.
Will the patio be slippery when wet?
Decorative flake adds texture to the surface so wet traction is comparable to bare textured concrete. For pool decks and high-slip-concern areas, we can add an aggregate to the topcoat for additional grip. Brought up during the estimate.
How does it handle Minnesota winter?
The polyaspartic UV topcoat is rated for full freeze-thaw cycling. Salt and ice melt don't damage it. Snow shovels are fine. Sharp metal blades (sleds with metal runners) can scratch the topcoat just like they would any finished surface.
What about the rest of the year? Will it fade?
No. Polyaspartic is UV stable, meaning the topcoat doesn't yellow, chalk, or fade. This is the chemistry difference vs epoxy. Color holds for the life of the coating.
Can I have a custom color?
Yes. Decorative flake comes in dozens of standard color blends, and we mix custom blends on request. Brought to your in-home estimate as samples so you can see them on the patio before committing.
What if my patio has cracks?
Hairline cracks get filled during prep. Larger active cracks get evaluated; either repaired as part of the install (Apex tier handles them best) or, if the slab needs more substantial work, we say so honestly.
How long does an outdoor install take?
Most patios are 1-day installs. Larger or multi-level patios run into a second day. Weather has to cooperate; we don't install on rainy days or below curing temperatures.
When can I put furniture back?
24 to 48 hours for furniture, depending on weight and topcoat cure. Plant pots and grills go back in 48. Heavy stone or built-in features in 72.
Can I coat a stamped or decorative patio?
Yes, but the Essential penetrating sealer is usually the right tier. A film coating covers the stamped pattern; if you want to preserve the decorative look, the sealer protects it without changing the appearance.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Written limited warranty, terms vary by tier, walked through during the in-home estimate so you know exactly what's covered.
