My Mound house is close to the lake. Can the basement floor be coated?
Maybe, and the moisture reading decides it rather than the address. Slabs near the Lake Minnetonka shoreline sit close to groundwater and push more vapor than an upland slab. A film coating over a slab pushing vapor will lift off the floor over time, which is a failure we would rather prevent than warranty. High readings get a penetrating sealer that seals the concrete while letting it breathe. We test before quoting, every time, in this city especially.
The garage was added to the cottage in the 1960s. Is that slab coatable?
Often yes, once we have seen it. Garages added to converted lake cottages were built to whatever standard applied at the time, sometimes on ground that has since moved, and there is rarely any record. We check for settlement, deep cracking and moisture before quoting. Sound slabs coat well. Slabs that have moved get an honest recommendation for concrete work first.
Can you coat an unheated detached garage in Mound in the winter?
Sometimes, and it depends on the week. Polyurea and polyaspartic cure across a wider temperature range than epoxy, which widens the window considerably, but an unheated detached garage in deep winter still has limits. We would rather schedule it into a workable window than promise a date and install outside product spec. Off-peak scheduling from November through March is usually easier to get regardless.
Do you drive out around the lake for a single project?
Yes. Mound is eighteen miles from Chaska, roughly twenty-eight to thirty-four minutes around the lake on Hwy 7, and it is inside the standard service area with no travel adjustment in the quote. The drive around Lake Minnetonka is longer than the straight-line distance suggests, which is worth knowing when you are comparing scheduling windows.
Will it actually be slip resistant when wet?
Yes. The polyaspartic topcoat is broadcast with grip aggregate (fine silica or polymer beads, depending on the texture level you want) that gives bare feet traction on a wet surface. Aggressive enough for safety, fine enough not to be uncomfortable.
Will it get hot in the sun?
Light color choices reflect significantly more heat than dark ones. We recommend lighter flake blends for pool decks specifically for this reason. Not as cool as some specialty acrylic pool deck coatings, but far cooler than dark stained concrete.
Does chlorine damage the coating?
Polyaspartic is chlorine tolerant at normal pool concentrations. Saltwater pool systems are also fine. Heavy chemical spills (concentrated shock, muriatic acid) should still be rinsed off promptly, same as you would for any finished surface.
What about the pool coping or waterline edge?
We coat the horizontal deck surface. The vertical pool coping (stone or concrete cap at the waterline) is a separate decision; we can talk through whether to include it during the estimate.
Can I coat a concrete deck with a stamped pattern?
Film coatings cover stamped patterns. If you want to keep the decorative pattern, the Essential sealer (also offered) preserves the look while adding chlorine and freeze-thaw protection.
How long does the install take?
Most residential pool decks are 1 to 2 days on site. Larger or premium decks take longer. We coordinate around the pool-use season; spring or fall installs are easier than mid-summer.
When can I open the pool after the install?
48 hours for walk and swim use. Full coating cure continues for a week beyond that, but the surface is functionally ready at 48.
